Job Description
The Director of Sales is responsible for targeting, qualifying and contracting predominantly local and global corporate accounts that are not yet utilizing the property. Additional targets include growing existing consortia accounts to bring incremental revenue and expanding the business group segment through account management or business development with TMCs, key agencies and DMCs. The role requires strategic business development, relationship building with local chambers, tourism boards and Accor stakeholders, and a relentless focus on results.
* Lead a team comprising Sales Office Manager, Events Coordinator, Reservation Coordinator and Wedding Coordinator.
* Create and implement a proactive sales strategy for room accommodation (Business & MICE Groups and Corporate Transient Negotiated) and ancillary revenue streams such as F&B managed streams, Room Hire and Catering.
* Negotiate and renegotiate RFPs in C‑Vent.
* Generate and prospect new business from the local market while managing current accounts with a long‑term growth plan.
* Maximise room sales and incremental revenue for supplementary departments such as F&B and M&E.
* Develop current business group segments through direct channels, agencies, DMCs and other partners.
* Perform day‑to‑day sales activities including lead generation, account management, face‑to‑face meetings, contracting, rate negotiation, site inspections, trade show attendance, client entertainment and sales trips.
* Achieve key performance metrics in appointments, revenue, new business and account development.
* Assist with in‑house marketing activities, familiarisation trips, client hospitality evenings, presentations, show rounds and promotional activities.
* Collaborate closely with the Accor Sales Network to support the overall corporate sales target.
* Conduct sales trips to all business areas as specified, both domestically and internationally.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Produce reports of completed sales activity, detailing face‑to‑face client appointments, presentations, familiarisation trips and other client interactions.
* Maintain all market segment sales contact lists/account information in ANAIS, Delphi and other systems.
* Compile sales packs and ensure sufficient stationary, brochures and giveaways are in stock.
* Coordinate with front office and reservations for new corporate business opportunities, farm-up leads and contracting, ensuring volume is tracked.
* Assist with office administration, ensuring all accounts have necessary documentation, contracts, contact forms and up‑to‑date Account Development Plans focused on corporate.
* Stay current with the hotel’s financial position and selling strategy versus the previous year and budget.
* Monitor key competitors’ financial performance, client interaction, account base and rates.
* Attend weekly and monthly sales meetings and report on production monthly, planning strategies to recover or grow accounts.
* Utilise sales systems to generate new leads and diversify the hotel’s business mix.
Guest‑Centric Responsibilities
* Present a professional, friendly and efficient impression of the hotel at all times.
* Prioritise tasks that enhance guest comfort, satisfaction and overall impression of the property.
* Build strong working relationships with guests, visitors and colleagues, fostering teamwork with other departments.
* Contribute to guest satisfaction by providing high‑quality, personalised services throughout their stay.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
* Participate in workplace consultation on health and safety matters.
* Comply with Accor Health, Safety and Environment policies, including safe manual handling, safe use of hazardous chemicals, machinery, working‑at‑height procedures and tidy work environment.
* Ensure all equipment is kept in good working order and used appropriately.
* Contribute to the risk assessment process.
* Maintain hygiene standards for food handling and presentation as required by council/legislative regulations.
* Be fully conversant with departmental fire and evacuation procedures.
Qualifications
* Hotel sales experience, preferably from a large volume hotel with a substantial M&E operation.
* Familiarity with MICE, Corporate and some Leisure segments.
* Experience with Lanyon/CVENT, Delphi, ANAIS, Opera and TMC & MICE distribution platforms.
* Reporting experience and prior team management.
* Competent financial acumen (P&L, budget, forecasts).
* Dynamic, self‑motivated, enthusiastic, dependable and adaptable.
* Commercial mind‑set, self‑starter, resilient with appetite for business development.
* Strategic, process‑driven and highly organised with excellent communication skills.
