The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in the UK & Ireland’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat designs, develops, and delivers a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.
We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of prefabricated energy solutions, primarily built in NI and shipped across the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating projects, with extensive experience delivering similar packages to public bodies across the UK & Europe.
Role Overview
Are you a Manufacturing Engineer seeking a role in a rapidly expanding company where you can influence continuous improvement and contribute to the company's success? You will be responsible for developing, designing, and improving manufacturing processes, overseeing production, implementing procedures, and troubleshooting as needed.
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Head Office, Banbridge
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-3pm
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Responsible to: Production Manager
Key Responsibilities
* Develop efficient DFMA-aligned processes and implement them effectively.
* Collaborate with engineering teams on product design and modifications to ensure effective manufacturing methods.
* Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.
* Implement quality systems, perform root cause analysis (8D), manage NCRs, and ensure compliance with standards.
* Maintain SOPs, process documentation, and generate performance reports to inform improvements.
* Support manufacturing operations on the shop floor, ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are met.
* Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and technical problem resolution.
* Perform time studies to determine production times and costs, aiding operational decisions.
* Design and develop manufacturing processes, fixtures, tooling, and equipment for existing and new products, aiming for zero defects and low costs.
Additional Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships with value stream teams to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
* Perform other tasks as needed to support business objectives.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Experience in manufacturing engineering within bespoke engineered product companies, with familiarity in Six Sigma, Lean, and PFMEA tools.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for resolving complex process issues.
* Knowledge of process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD files.
* Attention to detail, self-motivation, openness to change, and leadership capabilities, including mentoring.
