NHS Ayrshire & Arran seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join the Forensic Mental Health Service at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine. You will be part of a supportive team of consultants, with opportunities for teaching and supervision with medical students from Glasgow and Dundee medical schools.
The role involves providing forensic medical input on a male low secure ward and a mixed gender open forensic rehabilitation ward. The inpatient beds are located at Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital, and HMP Kilmarnock, housing remand and sentenced male prisoners. The hospital is within easy reach of Ayrshire's scenic areas and amenities.
The position is based on a 9 programmed activity contract, with additional sessions negotiable. It includes participation in an on-call rota, with a 3% supplement, supported by junior doctors and senior trainees. Travel is occasionally required; a full driving license is essential.
Applicants must hold full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT award at the time of interview. Supporting documents and references are required upon application.
