Data Engineer 3-month initial contract £500 per day Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire, 3 days onsite, 2 days working from home We're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join a growing team and support the development of reliable, well-structured data solutions across the business. This role is suited to someone with strong SQL, solid data warehouse modelling experience, and a track record of building and improving data pipelines in a delivery-focused environment. This is not an enterprise architecture or cloud engineering role. The focus is on practical data engineering and creating robust data assets that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making. What you'll be doing Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and operational use. Develop and improve data warehouse models aligned to business requirements. Write and optimise SQL for transformation, integration, and performance. Support data quality, validation, and governance across data workflows. Work with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver accessible, reliable datasets. Contribute to monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement of data processes. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure data solutions are secure, stable, and fit for purpose. What we're looking for Strong hands-on experience in data engineering. Strong SQL skills. Solid experience with data warehouse modelling. Experience building and maintaining data pipelines in a business-facing environment. Good understanding of data quality, governance, and structured data design. Comfortable working closely with stakeholders and translating requirements into workable data solutions. Experience with tools such as Databricks, Synapse, or Fabric would be useful, but the key requirement is strong core data engineering capability rather than broader cloud architecture experience.
