An exceptional private mental health hospital in Hassocks, West Sussex, is hiring a Lead Occupational Therapist to manage and lead the Occupational Therapy Service. The role is essential in delivering high-quality multidisciplinary therapy across the hospital’s acute, high‑dependency, low‑secure and personality‑disorder units.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and manage day‑to‑day operations of the Occupational Therapy Service to meet contact targets.
* Lead the planning and delivery of multi‑disciplinary therapeutic patient activity programmes across the hospital.
* Provide clinical support and professional supervision to the occupational therapy team.
* Deliver specialist clinical interventions, evidence‑based, to enhance patient recovery and wellbeing through meaningful occupation.
* Collaborate with external agencies to maintain links with community activities and patient social inclusion programmes (e.g., Koestler Trust, community art festivals).
* Convey strategic service development in line with the Care Quality Commission, governance, national care standards and professional agendas, in collaboration with the Regional Head Occupational Therapist.
* Maintain a clinical caseload.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC.
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in mental health, ideally in an inpatient setting.
* Experience supervising or line‑managing staff.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
* Proven experience leading and facilitating individual and group sessions.
* Evidence of leading multidisciplinary care and service improvement.
