Looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant in Sheffield! Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield Salary: £460 – £600 per week Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day Start Date: Immediately Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? A supportive and inclusive school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. Staff work collaboratively to create a calm and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, develop coping strategies and re-engage positively with education. About the Role: As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs both inside and outside of the classroom. You will help pupils regulate emotions, remain engaged in learning, and develop positive relationships and routines throughout the school day. Responsibilities: Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups Assist teachers in delivering engaging and structured lessons Help manage behaviour and support emotional regulation strategies Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils Encourage student participation, confidence and engagement in learning Support the implementation of individual behaviour or support plans Provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff on student progress and wellbeing Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable Strong communication and behaviour management skills Calm, patient and resilient approach Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff Understanding of trauma-informed and supportive behaviour approaches Genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive school in Sheffield and make a meaningful difference to the lives and education of young people with SEMH needs.
