Wren provides a wide range of bespoke software services that enhance the customer journey. The DevOps team manages the tooling, processes, and infrastructure behind these experiences. As the business expands globally, supported by a multi-cloud strategy, new challenges continue to emerge. The Senior DevOps Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, delivering both routine and complex projects, improving security, and designing scalable, next-generation service architectures to maintain a competitive edge.
Main Responsibilities:
9. Architect and refine tools, processes, and infrastructure to optimise application deployment and performance across the business.
10. Ensure comprehensive observability and proactive monitoring of all systems to maintain reliability and performance standards.
11. Lead collaborative efforts with both internal teams and external partners to achieve business and technical goals.
12. Spearhead the management and strategic enhancement of service configurations and their administration.
13. Host discussions surrounding architecture and best practice.
14. Advocate for and implement best practices and operational excellence throughout the organisation.
15. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for systems, applications, and operational procedures.
16. Participate actively in incident and problem management, including off-hours support as needed.
17. Design and implement robust security measures to protect against evolving cybersecurity threats.
18. Lead the design and development of innovative services, tooling, and processes based on stakeholder needs.
19. Manage end-to-end project scopes, from planning and design through to execution and ongoing management.
20. Foster a culture of learning and growth within the DevOps team by mentoring junior engineers and other technical staff.
21. Lead by example to cultivate technical expertise and professional skills across the team. Organise and conduct training sessions to elevate team capabilities and ensure knowledge transfer on best practices, new technologies, and industry trends.
22. Collaborate with software development teams to ensure adherence to best practices and process compliance.
About You
23. Exceptional communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer and service-orientedpractices.
24. Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
25. Expertise in managing and scaling cloud platforms, particularly Amazon EKS, in complex,large-scale deployments.
26. Results-driven with a proven ability to deliver high-quality outcomes promptly.
27. Systematic and professional approach to problem-solving and support.
28. Resilience and perseverance in troubleshooting, with a commitment to thoroughunderstanding and resolution.
29. Experience with programming with languages such as PHP, Python, and JavaScript.
30. Demonstrated experience in leading significant architectural transformations with minimalservice disruption.
31. Demonstrated ability to mentor and uplift team members, enhancing their technical abilitiesand career progression.
32. Commitment to developing the next generation of DevOps leadersthrough active coaching and performance management.
33. Data-driven decision-making with a strong analytical mindset.
34. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
35. Experienced in utilising infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform with Terragrunt.
36. Meticulous attention to detail in both individual tasks and large-scale project execution.
37. Deep familiarity with orchestration and deployment tools like Ansible, Jenkins, ArgoCD.
38. Possession of AWS Associate-level and Kubernetes certification(s).
Desired Skills:
39. Advanced analytical skills for complex problem-solving.
40. Solid background in managing both persistent and volatile data sources, including MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
