Overview
Are you ready to make a real impact in wastewater treatment? We’re looking for a Regional Liaison Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in connecting Wastewater Treatment Operations with Capital Delivery. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design and delivery of major infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet operational needs and deliver long‑term value.
Key Purpose
As a Regional Liaison Engineer, you’ll act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of complex, high-value wastewater treatment projects. You’ll ensure that designs are practical, resilient, and aligned with our strategic goals, supporting seamless integration into live operations and long‑term asset performance.
Responsibilities
* Champion operational requirements from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
* Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are operable, maintainable, and cost‑effective.
* Provide expert input during detailed design and commissioning phases.
* Ensure safety‑critical processes such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO) are planned and compliant.
* Collaborate with site teams to support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities.
* Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are fully prepared and confident.
Qualifications
* Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
* Proven experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to interpret technical documentation and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover.
* Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering. Or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation (desirable).
Additional Requirements
* Must be able to hit the ground running, with a strategic mindset and a personable, adaptable approach.
* A full UK driving licence is essential, as regular travel to operational sites is required.
* Participation in a call‑out rota may be required.
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week. Participation in a call‑out rota may be required. Southern Water operates a hybrid approach to working between the office location, site, and home.
