Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – Non-Verbal Pupil)

About the Role
We are looking for a caring, patient, and committed Early Years Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil within our Early Years setting. This rewarding role involves helping a child access learning, develop communication skills, and thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil, adapting activities to meet their individual needs
* Support the development of communication using strategies such as visual aids, gestures, and alternative communication systems (e.g. PECS/Makaton)
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised learning plans
* Foster a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
* Encourage social interaction and emotional development
* Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate
* Assist with personal care if required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working within an Early Years or primary school setting
* Experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly non-verbal communication
* Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other communication tools (desirable)
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
