UKCEH is looking for an experien ced Procurement Projects Manager to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

You’ll be joining our proactive Procurement team, working closely with the team and other specialist teams within the wider organisation. Your focus will be acting as a Category Manager for our professional services teams.
You will ensure that Procurement support is aligned to the structure, objectives and culture of the whole organisation, thus becoming an enabler to its business plan, objectives and deliverables. You’ll collaborate with key teams to identify areas to add value and help lead solutions in support of strategic goals.

Your main responsibilities will include:
* Support the Head of Procurement on a range of strategic project deliverables to support the procurement transformation from a transactional to a strategic, enabling function
* Support the Head of Procurement with a review of existing processes to make recommendations to support the readiness of the Procurement Act 2023
* Leading supplier engagement and sourcing activities end to end from definition of business requirements, sourcing, tender analysis and negotiation and ongoing supplier performance and life cycle management.
* Ensure that procurement projects are efficient and compliant and that any associated procurement activities are run in accordance with UKCEH internal policy and Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR)
* Supporting and contributing to the procurement strategy for ESG and EDI initiatives that align with the wider corporate strategies for our environment and sustainability.
* Developing and then delivering a pipeline of Procurement activities for your category area(s)
* Ensuring that all expenditure is identified, routes to market are defined and maverick spend is measured and controlled, running regular spend analysis reports.
* Taking responsibility for the ongoing management of suppliers that fall under your category area, optimising and rationalising the category suppliers and ensuring that they’re fit for supply.
* Acting as a Procure to Pay (P2P) champion and working with your category areas to ensure compliant spend and reducing/ minimising retrospective spend
* E nsuring that you keep up to date with developments in both procurement practice and category management.
We have a number of exciting initiatives and science projects you can get involved with that will require collaborative procurement support within the immediate procurement team too.
For the role of Procurement Projects Manager, we’re looking for somebody who has :
* An u nderstanding/experience of sourcing strategies
* The a bility to negotiate and influence at all levels
* Experience in p roject management – delivering projects or supporting delivery of projects
* Experience of category management within professional services (HR, Comms, IT)
* Commitment to and positive application of sustainability and environmental awareness
* A k een customer service focus
* A c ollaborative approach to problem solving and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
