Role overview:
* Ensure machines operate at full capacity without issues, and address breakdowns by quickly identifying and fixing problems. This role involves shift work.
Responsibilities:
* Operate HDPE blow moulding equipment and auxiliary machinery, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
* Maintain smooth production line operation by troubleshooting and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
* Perform calculations to ensure precise weights and measures according to customer specifications.
* Adjust machines to correct errors in bottle production.
* Accurately report problems and complete relevant documentation.
* Ensure machines operate efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
* Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to verify product compliance with specifications.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance to sustain machine efficiency and product quality.
* Execute standard machine changeovers, including material feed, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
* Apply effective problem-solving techniques and make necessary process adjustments.
* Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers when needed.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in accordance with Food Packaging Industry Standards.
* Follow all safety protocols consistently.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and health and safety.
Education & Experience:
* Background in engineering, fitting, or mechanical fields.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
* At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, grades C/5 or above.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Experience in a plastics manufacturing environment or similar fast-paced production setting.
* Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic control adjustments, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
