The role is a key position within the finance team, responsible for Sumo’s internal and external reporting and including preparation and presentation of information for the Senior Leadership Team and the Board. You will be responsible for commercial analysis, technical projects, and will act as a business partner providing insight and adding value. Reporting into the Financial Controller and with a dotted line to the Tax and Financial Reporting manager, the role will involve extensive cross functional collaboration across the finance team and wider business. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional organisational skills and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders as well as the reporting skills and attention to detail.Sumo is a dynamic, growing business with multiple Finance Managers and as such the specific requirements of our Finance Managers may change as the needs of the business changes. We also regularly assess the skills, experience and development needs of our Finance Managers and may look to adjust or rotate the Finance Managers’ responsibilities from time to time to reflect these.Within this role you will:Be responsible for providing insightful and accurate month end reporting to drive business decisions. As part of this you will: - Manage the month end consolidation review and controls, working closely with the commercial finance teams to incorporate project and business changes. - Drive continuous improvement and transformation across all finance operating and reporting systems for effective and efficient reporting and analysis.- Collaborate closely with the financial accounting and commercial finance teams, challenging variances and providing insight to senior leadership. Lead Parent group reporting: - Be the key point of contact for the Parent finance team, building string relationships and providing insight, guidance and direction on results and reporting. - Prepare monthly reporting for Sumo’s parent group, owning reporting structures and working across the finance function to ensure alignment. - Work with finance business partners to ensure planning and reporting follows all Sumo & Parent reporting policies. - Prepare any ad-hoc reporting and analysis required.• Be involved in M&A and structuring transactions, integrating potential acquisitions and/or managing the reporting for structural changes in the group, as well as supporting the Financial Controller and Group FD on accounting and other implications • Be the finance business partner for Facilities and Legal departments, preparing forecasts and identifying risks and opportunities, working closely with business stakeholders to provide insight and add value.• Be responsible for annual financial statement preparation and disclosures for all trading and holding companies, utilising other resources in the team to deliver these and co-ordinating timelines and deadlines. • Be the key day to day contact with Sumo’s statutory auditors, co-ordinating the preparation of audit deliverables from the wider team•Work with the Financial Controller and Financial Reporting Manager to prepare technical analysis to support Sumo’s key accounting policies and judgements, including for contract accounting and acquisitions, staying up to date with changes to accounting standards and developments in financial reporting legislation• Own key balance sheet reconciliation accounts• Be responsible for lease, IFRS16 and property accounting and forecasting• Support the FC on cash flow forecast preparation• Support the performance management and development of the wider finance teamWe need you to have:• Full professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) with relevant experience• Strong technical/commercial background in practice or industry• Experience of resource planning tools and financial reporting applications preferred• Experience of financial reporting and providing insight to a range of stakeholders, and the ability to build relationships with those stakeholders• An understanding of the Sumo’s commercial business drivers• An enthusiastic, team-based ethos. Ability to collaborate across multiple team members, teams and parts of Sumo.• Ability to prioritise in a dynamic business, be well organised, and able to work autonomously and to strict deadlines.• A willingness to learn and develop new skills.• Exceptional attention to detail• A strong desire to implement change and best practice, with the confidence to question processes and recommend improvements• Able to communicate effectively across all levels internally and externally• Strong excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to analyse and manipulate data.What’s in it for you?Sumo understands the importance of having control over your benefits.
