Role Overview
As a Machine Setter, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing production machinery to ensure consistent quality output, meet key performance targets, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. With a strong emphasis on safety, food safety, and continuous improvement, you will play a vital role in supporting operational excellence while fostering collaboration across the site.
Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety Compliance
* Maintain a safety-first approach, ensuring all work adheres to company policies and regulatory standards.
* Investigate and report any near misses or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Conduct regular equipment inspections, reporting malfunctions or hazards for immediate resolution.
* Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
* Enforce adherence to the "10 Golden Rules" of safety, with the goal of achieving zero accidents or incidents.
* Lead by example, demonstrating a zero-tolerance attitude toward unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Machine Setup & Operation
* Set up, calibrate, and maintain production machinery according to specifications and company standards.
* Ensure machines run efficiently, making necessary adjustments to meet production targets and product specifications.
* Perform minor machine adjustments and changeovers to align with production requirements.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for setup and operation.
* Conduct regular preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
* Work closely with the Process Reliability Technician, Engineers, and Shift Manager to optimize machine performance.
* Ensure product quality compliance with customer and industry standards.
* Conduct regular quality checks, promptly reporting and addressing any deviations.
* Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to resolve quality concerns.
* Uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout production processes.
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting
* Identify and troubleshoot machine-related issues, minimizing disruptions to production.
* Escalate complex technical problems to engineering or management when additional support is required.
* Lead and support your production team, ensuring daily targets and KPIs are met.
* Conduct comprehensive shift handovers to maintain productivity and operational consistency.
* Complete all relevant production documentation accurately and promptly.
* Seek opportunities to reduce machine downtime, waste, and production costs.
* Continuously explore ways to enhance machine performance and process efficiency.
* Follow production schedules rigorously, ensuring resources are used optimally.
Collaboration & Team Development
* Foster a positive work environment by adhering to Dignity and Respect policies.
* Provide training and mentorship to team members on machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing ideas for efficiency and safety enhancements.

Qualifications & Skills
* Basic English & Math Skills: Ability to read machine manuals, schedules, and technical documents.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of workplace and food safety regulations.
* Manufacturing Experience: Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in the food production industry.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in machine setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
* Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate machine settings and consistent product quality.
* Strong Communication: Ability to clearly convey information to team members and supervisors.
* Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Knowledge: Ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
