About the apprenticeship
Duties
1.General administrative duties and responsibilities, including the daily processing of paper and electronic mail, ensuring a high level of presentation and accuracy.
2.Routine data input and maintenance of electronic records in the Council's systems, specifically the Pensions administration & workflow system.
3.Communication with all Pension Scheme Members, Scheme Employers and other internal service areas and providing a high standard of customer service to all callers and visitors.

You will be expected to:

7.Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
8.Complete the Apprenticeship Framework and undertake any other training relevant to the role including coaching from a supervisor and on the job training.
9.Comply with the Council’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures and undertake any relevant health and safety duties in accordance with local arrangements.
10. Support the Council to play its part in tackling Climate Change and meeting its Carbon Reduction targets across the services it delivers and in the goods and services it buys or commissions from other organisations.

Who We’re Looking For
Excellent levels of numeracy and computer skills are essential to this role, as are strong written and verbal communication skills as you will be required to interact effectively with a range of scheme members and Employer representatives.
The Pensions Service deals with the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Firefighter’s Pension Scheme, which involves processing all types of pension benefits for all different categories of membership. The main general office duties include the processing of all paper and electronic mail, routine data input and creation/maintenance of electronic records on the pensions administration and workflow system.
What Will You Study?
All Apprentices will be supported to complete a QCF (Qualification Credit Framework, formerly NVQ) qualification in Business Administration, Level 3 via a training provider or local college.
What will you be paid?
This is a fixed term post for a two-year period and will start in September 2024. You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependant on age:
•21 & over £11.42
•18 - 20 £8.60
•Under 18 £6.40

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, applications cannot be accepted from any applicant who has already gained a similar qualification at level 3 or above in the role applied for.
For example, if you have a degree in Civil Engineering you will not be eligible to apply for a Civil Engineering apprenticeship post. However, you could apply for any other apprenticeship post. Any such applications will not be considered.
