Quantity Surveyor (Passive Fire Protection)
Daniel Owen is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor with a Passive Fire Protection background to join a leading provider of specialist fire protection solutions, working across commercial, industrial, and public sector projects. The company is known for technical expertise, quality workmanship, and a strong safety culture. They seek a skilled Quantity Surveyor to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum + package

Role Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor will manage financial and contractual aspects of fire protection projects, from estimation to final account settlement, collaborating with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients to deliver cost-effective, compliant, and technically sound solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Estimating & Cost Planning: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
* Contract Management: Draft, review, and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.
* Tendering Process: Prepare tender documentation, obtain quotations, and evaluate bids.
* Cost Control: Monitor expenditure, assess variations, and manage interim valuations.
* Procurement: Source materials and subcontractors, negotiate pricing and terms.
* Reporting: Produce financial reports for stakeholders and clients.
* Site Involvement: Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify works.
* Final Accounts: Prepare and agree final accounts, ensuring contractual obligations are met.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in fire protection, M&E, or construction sectors.
* Understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and commercial management.
* Proficiency in QS software and Microsoft Office.
* Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
* High accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
* Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB) or working towards chartership.
* Knowledge of fire protection systems, codes, and regulations.
* Background in Fire Stopping.
