Job Title Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher Responsible to Headteacher / SENCO / Head of Inclusion Job Purpose To plan, deliver, and assess high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum, make progress, and achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to meet a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Adapt teaching strategies, resources, and assessment methods to meet individual pupil needs. Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and positive behaviour. Use evidence-based approaches and specialist interventions to support pupil progress. Assessment and Progress Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress using appropriate assessment tools. Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Set clear targets and evaluate the impact of interventions. Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support. Collaboration and Communication Work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and other professionals to provide consistent support.
