Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to support and further develop the clinical pharmacy service within Kent and Medway Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS). The post will work closely with Consultant Pharmacists and Lead Pharmacists, supporting service users across community services and inpatient units, and delivering a comprehensive medicines management service.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to CYPMHS, optimising patient outcomes and supporting care pathways across Kent and Medway.
* Engage directly with young people and their families, ensuring their views inform decisions about their care.
* Support the safe transition of patients across care settings, ensuring continuity and seamless pharmaceutical care.
* Provide counselling to patients and carers to support medicines optimisation and adherence.
* Perform medicines reconciliation, discharge planning, medicine supply, and support community clinic pharmacy services.
* Use EPMA/medicines informatics systems, complete physical health checks for children and young people on psychotropic medication, and contribute to audits, teaching and training.
Qualifications & Skills
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes (unless a disability qualifies under the Equality Act 2010).
* Proactive, compassionate, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in working directly with young people, families and healthcare professionals.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across inpatient and community settings.
Compensation
Salary: 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,346 per year and a maximum payment of £2,270 per year (2026/27 figures). The agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal payments and paid monthly.
Additional Allowance
High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance for employees based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, with an additional payment each month.
