We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in the professional electrical engineering field to contribute to testing programmes in a safe and cost-effective manner. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in designing, planning, and implementing projects, ensuring safety throughout. Your responsibilities will include investigating and resolving electrical issues, with some mechanical work involved.
You will assist in leading maintenance activities for electrical infrastructure, plant, communications, and instrumentation systems, implementing procedures for their safe operation and maintenance. Additionally, you will conduct surveys and inspections, and prepare bills of material and cost estimates.
Qualifications for this role include a minimum of HNC / HND in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent, or significant relevant experience. An understanding of HV systems, good knowledge of LV systems, protection, communications, planned maintenance, electrical services, and current health and safety legislation are required.
Effective communication skills are essential to interact with colleagues and external organizations. The environment is dynamic, with changing priorities, requiring strong teamwork. The position is based at the new PNDC facility in the University’s Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC), with potential support for the Cumbernauld facility.
As part of the technical team, you will receive training to obtain LV authorization promptly, with opportunities to progress towards HV authorization.
