The successful candidate will work as part of a small and dedicated team covering compliance issues for commercial businesses and residents, as part of a wider consumer protection and public health delivery agenda. This is an exciting opportunity to work with other enforcement partners within a very busy regulatory service. As an experienced officer the successful Trading Standards Officer candidate will be responsible for carrying out functions across the full remit of Trading Standards work – including dealing with consumer complaints and the provision of business advice. The successful candidate will also be responsible for undertaking complex investigations and contribute to a range of initiatives. There will be the opportunity to develop their skills in a specialist area of work. They will need to be self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a broad technical background across a range of Trading Standards and related disciplines. It is also critical that they possess excellent people skills allied with the ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. They should be computer literate. The minimum educational requirement for the post is the holding of the statutory qualification as a Weights and Measures Inspector granted under Section 73 of the Weights and Measures Act 1985.
Responsibilities
