We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Coordinator to join the Research team within Ophthalmology, based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary as well as working collaboratively within the Trusts R&I departments.
This is a unique opportunity to join our team of staff who manage the care of patients taking part in Clinical research studies. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic candidate with previous experience in Ophthalmology Clinical Research. The successful candidate will Coordinate, support, and manage Ophthalmology research projects, as well as associated specialty projects that require Ophthalmology assistance.
The post holder will provide specialist research knowledge, expertise and research portfolio management, ensuring that studies are led safely, efficiently while meeting local and national performance targets.
Main duties of the job
1. As part of our team of specialist staff, coordinate the whole study process, from patient identification, recruitment and treatments, to follow up care, for Clinical and commercial research studies.
2. The day to day management of junior members of the team will also be expected, as well as forging links and structure to the wider Research community both within UHL, and outside of the Hospital with all levels in all departments to set up and deliver studies efficiently.
3. Analyse data from human factors usability studies and clinician expert reviews and prepare formal written reports.
4. Plan and Coordinate the effective and timely completion of all associated ethics and governance requirements.
5. Arrange and facilitate collaborators meetings, ensuring follow up of actions and appropriate reporting / communication of such meetings.

14. Providing research support to various clinical specialities within Ophthalmology that are conducting research at UHL.
15. Take responsibility for the management, co-ordination, and facilitation of concurrent research studies.
16. In addition to clinic/patient based tasks, this role includes document generation and control, project tracking and logistics, data collection, adherence to good clinical practice and research governance and assisting in the continued improvement in the care of research participants and quality of research data.
17. Provide clinical and laboratory based support and expertise in commercial and non-commercial research projects.
18. Support the Research lead and wider team in implementing Standard Operating Procedures, local guidance and other procedures based on national operating guidelines and current legislation by effectively communicating the purpose of the procedures and any changes to all staff involved with the Capacity and Capability Assessment processes for studies based in the Trust.
19. Support the Ophthalmology research lead with ensuring that all research studies are and continue to be properly resourced and conducted according to applicable regulations.
20. To assist with the retrieval of activity based income as per contract.

21. Educated to degree level or equivalent in related area ( Science, research, healthcare) or equivalent experience.
