Red Snapper Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join a busy and supportive probation team in Sheffield PDU.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to return to frontline practice in a structured and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sentence management work, overseeing a varied caseload of people on probation, including those assessed as high or very high risk. The role will involve assessment, risk management, report writing, inter-agency liaison, and supporting rehabilitation goals.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. The position is full time, 37 hours per week, and will require occasional travel for which costs will be covered.

Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £21.75 p/h PAYE or £28.64 p/h Umbrella
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days remote
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise a caseload of individuals on probation, including those subject to community orders, licences, and custodial sentences.
Complete assessments and produce high-quality written reports for courts, the Parole Board, and other agencies.
Attend and contribute to key risk and safeguarding forums such as MAPPA and MARAC.
Use case management systems to record interventions, progress, and risk updates accurately and promptly.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and services to manage risk, reduce reoffending, and support rehabilitation.
Undertake prison visits, home visits, and other off-site meetings where required.
Essential Requirements
Professional Qualification in Probation (DipPS, DipSW with PQF, or equivalent recognised by HMPPS).
Experience of managing complex cases and applying professional judgment in risk assessment and sentence planning.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
Confident working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
