Role overview:
* Ensure machines operate at full capacity, troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns promptly. Work in shifts.
Responsibilities:
* Operate HDPE blow moulding and ancillary equipment, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
* Maintain smooth production by identifying and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
* Perform calculations to ensure weights and measures meet customer specifications.
* Adjust machines to correct production errors.
* Report problems accurately and complete necessary paperwork.
* Ensure machines run efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
* Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure products meet specifications.
* Perform preventative maintenance to maintain machine efficiency and quality.
* Carry out standard machine changes, including material feed, colour, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
* Apply problem-solving techniques and process adjustments as needed.
* Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in compliance with food packaging industry standards.
* Follow safe working practices at all times.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and safety.
Education & Experience:
* Experience in engineering, fitting, or mechanical roles.
* Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
* At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C/5 or above).
Knowledge & Skills:
* Experience in a plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment.
* Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic controls, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
