We are seeking a highly reliable and committed Personal Support Worker to provide vital practical and administrative support to a social worker working with children and families under Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care processes. This role is essential in enabling the social worker to carry out their responsibilities safely, efficiently, and to provide support to enable the social worker to meet their statutory responsibilities to a high professional standard. We are considering applicants who are able to work full time, or part time as part of a job share.
As a Personal Support Worker, you will:
1. Provide practical assistance, including manual handling support, helping the social worker in and out of their vehicle, and safely positioning portable ramps to access homes and community environments.
2. Drive the social worker’s mobility vehicle to ensure safe transport to and from visits, training, meetings, and other work‑related activities. This includes travel between office bases in Tiverton and Torquay.
3. Support with a range of administrative tasks, including typing case notes, assessments, emails, and organising information as directed.
4. Support to record and co-ordinate the social worker’s diary and schedule through social workers dictation, ensuring appointments and tasks are accurately recorded and prioritised.
5. Assist with some communication and coordination with families, professionals, and partner agencies as required.

6. Practical, organised, and able to follow direction with accuracy and professionalism.
7. Confident with manual handling (training can be provided).
8. Comfortable driving a manual mobility vehicle and supporting someone with physical access needs.
9. Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
10. A compassionate and steady presence, committed to supporting achieving high‑quality social work with children and families.
A full UK Driving License and ability to drive a manual vehicle is required as part of this role.
An Enhanced DBS Check will be carried out for the role in line with Devon County Council Safer Recruitment policy.
