They are currently searching for a driven, skilled Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant who is committed to enhancing Business Development (BD) by winning new projects within the Flood Risk and Drainage Sectors. The role will be based in the diverse, relevant city of Manchester.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
Winning new and interesting projects for the company, pursuing Business Development (BD) opportunities
Managing a team of design experts
Conducting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and producing Drainage Strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
Completing Hydrological and Flood Risk Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments, Nutrient Neutrality, and ESG factors
Carrying out site visits, writing comprehensive reports, and analysing/interpreting gathered data
Using the appropriate software packages (including MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.) to inform and produce designs and other technical documents
Working with AutoCAD to design conceptual drainage systems
Producing flood risk maps within QGIS (or similar software packages)
Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a similar, relevant field
Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body
Demonstrable experience of winning projects and contributing to Business Development (BD)
Experience of working in a flood risk and drainage role, within a UK-based consultancy setting
Extensive experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments and producing Drainage Strategies
Considerable experience in managing people and projects
Proficiencies in MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, TUFLOW, and other relevant software systems
Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software systems
Keen understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Experience of managing relations with clients and other stakeholders
Dedication to your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Possess a full, valid UK Driving Licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
- An understanding of relevant planning policy, procedures, and regulatory processes within the industry
- Prior experience of producing technical reports for flood modelling studies
- Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling for rivers, surface water, and/or sewer drainage
