Job Description:

SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Stockport – September 2025 Start

Your Newpany: Hays Education is working in partnership with a specialist independent school located in the peaceful countryside of Disley, Cheshire. The school supports children and young people aged 7 to 16 with a range ofplex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The school is part of a respected national group of therapeutic education providers and is known for its nurturing, structured, and trauma-informed approach. With a capacity of 90 pupils and a strong emphasis on personalised learning, the school offers a calm and supportive environment where pupils can thrive both academically and emotionally. The school was rated Good in its most recent Ofsted inspection. Set in a rural location with extensive outdoor space, the school integrates therapeutic support with academic learning, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and life skills.

Your New Job: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with a specific pupil who requires additional support to access learning and manage their emotional and behavioural needs. You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies that promote engagement, independence, and wellbeing. Key responsibilities include:

* Providing consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with an EHCP
* Supporting learning activities and behaviour management plans
* Encouraging emotional regulation and social development
* Promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
* Assisting with transitions and daily routines

What You'll Need to Succeed: Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally in a 1:1 setting. A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

What You'll Get in Return: A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s life. Supportive and collaborative working environment. Opportunity to transition into a permanent role. Access to Hays Education’s exclusive training and development resources.
