Overview
Teaching Assistant SEN SEMH - Wyke Regis Infant School
Are you a qualified TA with experience of teaching and supporting key stages 1 and/or 2 including those with Special Educational Needs? You should be self-motivated with a creative approach to supporting teaching and learning. All support roles require individuals to have the skills to continuously improve the learning experience for our pupils. You should have experience of working with pupils with SEMH and other complex needs and understand what approaches work well and how building positive relationships are key. A passion for inclusion and teaching and supporting pupils with SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) challenges is essential.
These SEN Support Staff positions have been created to support the growth of the school and the needs of our pupils; it is a great opportunity to be part of a team providing the very best possible educational opportunities for our pupils within a nurturing and supportive setting.

The Hive and setting
Our ‘Hive’ Specialist Resource Provision (Wyke Inclusion Hub) opened in September 2024 to educate pupils aged 5 to 11 with SEMH and associated difficulties. Some pupils may have an EHCP. The Hive team uses a therapeutic approach to support individual needs and difficulties. All activities are based on positive relationships to enable access to mainstream classrooms.
We offer
All staff in The Hive are part of our Federation team and, through our core values of compassion, perseverance and respect, will be highly flexible in their approach ensuring progression is central to all learning experiences while helping pupils gain confidence and resilience.
If you are seeking to contribute to SEMH provision in Dorset and have a desire to create an individualised approach to learning as an SEN TA, please complete the application process.
