SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2/KS3)

Location: Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Salary: Per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long Term, Full-Time

Start Date: September 2025


About the role:

Horizon Teachers are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across KS2 and KS3. Your role will involve helping children with ASC and complex needs thrive both in the classroom and beyond. If you are committed to making a positive impact and supporting young learners, we would love to hear from you.


Key responsibilities:

1. Provide general classroom support across KS2 and KS3, assisting with pupil engagement to enhance learning outcomes.
2. Deliver focused 1:1 and small group support for targeted interventions.
3. Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
4. Support pupils with SEND and additional needs.
5. Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.


What do you need to succeed in this role?

1. Previous experience in a school or SEN setting (essential).
2. A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
3. Understanding of SEND conditions and their impact on learning and behaviour.
4. Confidence in supporting pupils with communication difficulties and/or physical needs.
5. Collaborative and empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills.
