Job Title: M&E Quantity Surveyor\nLocation: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire\nSalary: £60,000 - £65,000\nBenefits: £5,000 Car allowance, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays, Company Pension, Healthcare\nA reputable regional M&E Contractor are looking for a M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their established team in Cambridge. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors including Commercial, Education, Research & Technology, Healthcare and Leisure. These projects are typically valued between £2m and £6m.\nThe successful Quantity Surveyor candidate will ensure projects are commercially controlled and delivered in line with the client’s requirements to the company’s high standards.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you, as Quantity Surveyor, will work within a team responsible for successful project delivery from pre-contract to end of defects period.\nYou, as Quantity Surveyor, will be expected to optimise site activities through cost management, monitoring and control over several multi-disciplined contracts simultaneously, whilst providing commercial support and mentoring to junior staff.\nAs the M&E Quantity Surveyor you will have the following responsibilities:\n * Prepare application and cash flow forecast projections for project durations.\n * Complete commercial overview assessments of sub-contract orders, passing comments to the Commercial Manager.\n * Capture and value all project variations in accordance with the sub-contract terms.\n * Complete the pre-construction buying schedules for team procurement and update monthly.\n * Analyse proposed procurement of project sub-contract packages, ensuring best value.\n * Draft sub-contract and principal plant orders, ensuring they are robust and detail the required scope of works.\n * Review sub-contract applications and issue appropriate payment notices as required under the contract.\n * Prepare and issue commercial monthly project reports.\n * Complete monthly CVR’s for all projects.\nSuccessful Quantity Surveyor applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:\n * Experience in commercial or pre-construction role.\n * Working knowledge of JCT and NEC suite of contracts.\n * Experience of using procurement systems ideally COINS.\n * Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.\n * Structured approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines.\n * Communicate and influence at all levels.\n * Commercial awareness.\n * Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.\n * Background training in Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing (desirable).\n * HNC or HND in building services (desirable).\n * Quantity Surveying formal academic training (desirable).\nPlease contact Adam Brown for more information about this role or if you are interested in a new M&E QS opportunity within the Building Services sector (M&E QS, M&E Quantity Surveyor, Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor, MEP QS, MEPH QS)
