About the Role:
We are looking for a caring, motivated Dental Nurse /Receptionist to join our friendly, patient-focused team. Working in ourPenzance clinic will play a dual role providing high-quality clinical supportto our dentists while also delivering a welcoming, efficient front-of-houseexperience for our patients.
In surgery, you will assist with clinical procedures,maintain excellent cross-infection control standards, and help ensure patientsfeel comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
On reception, you will be the first point of contact,managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting administrative processes,and creating a positive and professional first impression.
Main duties of the job
What Youll Do
Provide chairside assistance to clinicians across general, urgent, and community dentistry settings. Maintain high standards of infection control and ensure surgeries are prepared, stocked, and cleaned efficiently. Support the delivery of emergency and routine care, including special care and paediatric sessions. Welcome patients at reception, manage appointments, respond to telephone and email enquiries, and ensure a smooth patient journey from arrival to departure. Process payments, maintain accurate patient records, and support administrative systems in line with practice policies. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care both in-practice and, when required, through community and outreach programmes. Engage with patients compassionately, helping to reduce anxiety and ensure they feel welcomed, informed, and supported at every stage of their visit. Assist with administrative duties including record-keeping, stock control, patient preparation, and general front-of-house organisation.

JobSummary:
Toprovide clinical support to dentists and therapists, ensuring the effective andsafe delivery of high-quality dental care. The role also involves maintainingcompliance with professional and regulatory standards while supportingefficient practice operations. The post holder will be required to providereliable, efficient and timely reception duties to ensure Smile Togetherexceeds patients expectations at every visit and provides and excellent patientexperience.
Travel to provide cover at other clinicallocations within Smile Together will be required on occasions.

Asa General Dental Council (GDC) registered professional, the post holder must:
Adhereto GDC Standards for the Dental Team, ensuring ethical and effective patientcare.
Maintainfull GDC registration without conditions.

ClinicalResponsibilities
Providechairside assistance and anticipate clinician needs. Assist the dentist duringclinical procedures and make independent judgments with regard to equipment,instruments and materials
Provideclinical support for clinicians within a surgery setting, and give appropriatepre-treatment and post-treatment advice to patients
Maintaininfection control and follow HTM 01-05 guidance.
Assistin managing medical emergencies and follow safety protocols.
Monitorand maintain clinical stock control.
Accuratelyrecord patient data, filing and archiving patient records
Supportclinical and professional support colleagues in service improvement andorganisational change and development
Providereception cover when required, ensuring accurate appointment booking andprofessional patient interactions.
Ensurethat patient records are accurate and up to date and that all data is inputcorrectly.
Beconfident in handling difficult situations and bring to a satisfactoryresolution in accordance with the complaints policy.
Supportthe training of Foundation Dental Nurses and participate in the recruitment andonboarding of trainees.
Contributeto service improvement initiatives.
Compliance& Professional Development
Be responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basisin sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance andlegislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the workarea, and reporting accidents, incidents and near misses using the SmileTogether incident reporting procedure
Engagein continuing professional development (CPD) via the Smile Together TrainingAcademy and Perform appraisal system.
Activelyengage with Smile Together teams and participate in audit activities, planningand development sessions, and in-house meetings
