Overview
Calling all Mental Health Occupational Therapists. This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join the Redbridge Integrated Care Directorate as a Band 6 Community Occupational Therapist / Care Coordinator within the Redbridge Mental Health and Wellness Team (MHWT) – West.
Team
Our integrated team comprises Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, IPS workers, Peer Support Workers, STR workers, and Psychologists.
Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist functional assessments of daily living skills using the Model of Human Occupational assessment tools to establish functional ability, risk factors, level of support and accommodation needs.
* Develop and implement community care plans, provide adaptive equipment and maintain a high standard of service‑user care.
* Jointly lead and support the facilitation and delivery of group programmes with OT staff, Support Time Recovery Workers and Peer Support Workers.
* Collaborate with IPS employment workers to support service users’ employment goals.
* Provide mental health assessments, keywork and care coordination in line with the Care Programme Approach (CPA) policy.
* Implement comprehensive health and social needs assessment, develop a plan of care and intervene to meet these needs, with regular reviews for plan evaluation.
* Include and support carers and families in the care planning process.
* Facilitate and implement Trust and Local Authority safeguarding requirements for children, and safeguard adults in accordance with Care Act 2014 and Trust policy.
Induction
New starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and allocation of equipment. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex, and will include meetings with the executive team, senior managers and drop‑in sessions on engagement, health and wellbeing.
Probationary Period
Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless they are currently part of a probationary period or a bank member of staff.
Compensation
This post attracts a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15 % of the basic salary (minimum £4,714 and maximum £5,941) pro‑rata for part‑time staff. It also qualifies for the Trust ‘Welcome to NELFT’ payment – a lump sum of 10 % of the agreed basic salary (excluding HCAS). This incentive is paid in two instalments: 50 % at the end of probation (typically six months) and 50 % at the end of year two, and is available only to new external candidates.
