Determinations Manager – The Scottish Government
We are looking for an experienced Determinations Manager to lead decision making and support safeguarding work within Disclosure Scotland, part of the National Barring Service. The role is central to protecting vulnerable people across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as senior decision maker in complex or marginal cases and chair regular case conferences.
* Maintain electronic casework systems, ensuring sensitive personal data is managed appropriately.
* Collaborate with other Determinations Managers to prioritise activities and allocate resources to deliver team goals.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to transform working processes.
* Line manage senior caseworkers, supporting staff development and achievement of objectives.
* Promote a culture focused on safeguarding outcomes and a positive team ethos.
* Deputise for the Head of Protection Services at internal and external forums.
* Build cross‑government networks and embed open and transparent communication.

The role requires strong leadership, resilience, and sound judgement to handle sensitive information and meet legal duties.
