Role Description
Based in Warwickshire but will require some travel to suppliers around the UK.
Applicant should be self-driven, able to assess issues and propose solutions and actions without any mentoring. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to an engineer from a niche vehicle, motorsport, or specialist low-volume background.
The candidate should possess excellent skills with hands on experience in CAN and LIN busses. As well as the tools associated such as PEAK, Kvaser, SavvyCAN and Canoe tools.
This is an onsite job where hands on activities are required on lab car and prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
* System Design & Integration: Developing E/E network topology and functional allocation for ECU, sensor, and actuator integration.
* Networking & Communication: Defining communication strategies using CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
* Reverse engineering: ability to reverse engineer CAN & LIN messages and build DBC and LDF data bases from captured signals.
* Switch pack requirements: experience in the development of switch and control requirements for suppliers, addressing functionality, message contents and error reporting for both LIN and CAN buses.
* Management: Managing and working with suppliers on functional/performance requirements to ensure architectural alignment and delivery.
* Simulation & Validation: Conducting system modelling and simulation-based verification for architectural feasibility.
* EDS: Development of complete vehicle wiring systems including; prototyping looms, pin to pin definitions, and utilisation of both OEM and Motorsports connectors. Ability to modify harnesses such as splicing, re-pinning connectors and overlay looms for add on devices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Motorsport, Embedded Systems, or equivalent.
* Experience: Typically, 5-8+ years in automotive E/E architecture, OEM, or Tier 1 environments.
* Experience: in motorsport electronics such as Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Displays and ECUs is desirable.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), AUTOSAR, and modelling tools (e.g., PREEvision, SystemWeaver).
* Knowledge: Good understanding of software-defined vehicles, zonal architecture, and high-performance computing.
* Previous experience in hypercar, supercar, or high-performance automotive engineering is an advantage.
