Regulatory Services Manager
Location: Gravesend
Salary: £57,126 - £63,395 per annum, including allowances
Hours: 37 hours per week

The Borough of Gravesham, situated in the north west corner of Kent, covers 25,000 acres of the most varied countryside in south east England. Bordered by the River Thames to the north, it is at the heart of Thames Gateway and has a significant role to play in the regeneration of a major government growth area.
The Role
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to manage, lead and develop the delivery of the Council’s Regulatory Services, made up of their Environmental Health teams, and Licensing, which is a shared service with neighbouring Medway Council.
As their Regulatory Services Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and day to day delivery and performance of the service, building on a culture of continuous improvement in service quality, efficiency, customer experience and corporate and partnership working, to achieve organisational, performance and financial targets in full compliance with all procedural and legislative requirements, and drive improved levels of regulatory standards to deliver a place where their community can be proud to live, work and enjoy.
Working alongside other excellent regulatory teams within their wider Community Protection Service, and reporting to the Head of Community Protection, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person.
Interviews will be held in person between 8th and 18th September.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an extensive working knowledge in at least one area of environmental health and suitable management experience, but applications are welcomed from anyone meeting the essential criteria in the person specification appended to the job description, including:
* Being educated to graduate level with a degree, diploma, or other equivalent qualification in environmental health
* Having a good level of awareness of all the environmental health and licensing service areas and being able to demonstrate competency and in-depth knowledge of the legislation, working practices and methodologies in at least one of the relevant specialist areas.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Having an up to date understanding of current challenges, pressures & developments affecting environmental health, licensing and local government
