Job Summary
You will provide technical support and crewing during get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs, as required by the Technical Stage Manager and other Senior Storyhouse technical staff. You will operate and program lighting on ETC EOS range of consoles, operate a Yamaha digital sound desk.
Job Description
Operate sound and lighting for shows and events, including the use of radio mics, Qlab playback, lighting cue recording and playback.
Program and operate lighting for in-house shows, as well as operate lighting for touring main stage and Garret shows on ETC EOS consoles.
Load and unload set and equipment from trucks; set-up, build and move scenery; perform cues on stage; operate counterweight flying systems; operate follow spots as required during rehearsals and performances under the direction of visiting company staff or senior Storyhouse technical staff.
Attend occasional staff meetings, personal development and training sessions.
Work at one of our other sites, providing technical assistance at Moonlight Flicks and/or Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre.
Operate broadcast/PTZ camera for various streaming projects.
Program and operate lighting desks (ETC EOS series) and sound desks (Yamaha Digital) as required.
Carry out any other duties in all areas of the building as may be required by the Technical Stage Manager.
Act in accordance with Storyhouse's policies and procedures, and undertake any training as required by Storyhouse.
Act as a role model for other staff and contribute to the life of the organisation as a whole.
Carry out any other duties as may be required as part of the Technician's role.
Job Requirements
Experience with manual handling, working in a busy environment and working as part of a team
Formal technical theatre training, especially in rigging and/or flying
Experience in maintenance of sound, lighting and AV equipment
Experience in some, or all, of the following:
Stage craft and set construction
Experience of setting-up a PA system
Experience of using AV equipment
Job Responsibilities
Ability to use basic hand tools and electric screwdrivers
Knowledge of tying knots
An understanding of health and safety requirements
A positive and constructive attitude with a flexible approach to clients, visiting companies, Storyhouse staff and general public
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Flexibility and the ability to improvise when faced with unexpected situations
