ASA are currently working alongside a large-scale client in the public sector who are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join their team!
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
· Organise and coordinate work programmes efficiently and effectively.
· Perform the duties of an Authorised Officer under a wide range of environmental health legislation.
· Conduct inspections of premises, take samples and measurements, investigate complaints, and provide advice and information to individuals and organisations.
Educational Role:
· Prepare materials and present talks as part of the environmental health service’s educational role.
· Attend meetings with resident groups, community councils, and other relevant organisations.
Administrative Tasks:
· Maintain paper and computer-based records, prepare reports, and initiate actions as appropriate.
· Collate returns electronically or otherwise and provide information from those records to internal and external enquiries.
Policy and Development:
· Undertake appropriate surveys or research.
· Assist in the development of environmental health policies, procedures, and practices in cooperation with senior staff.
Additional Duties:
· Work outside normal working hours as required.
· Engage in professional training or development relevant to the job function.
· Manage personal performance and any assigned staff in line with the Council’s values and performance targets.
· Comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and procedures, including health and safety and governance.
· Manage risk, promote risk awareness, and prioritise work based on risk analysis.
· Commit to the Council’s equality and diversity policies, promoting fairness and celebrating diversity.
· Take measures to limit carbon emissions and reduce energy/resource consumption.
Qualifications:
· Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or a related field.
· Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent is desirable.
· Certifications such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) are advantageous.
Experience:
· Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and frameworks.
· Exposure to incident management, problem management, change management, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Skills and Competencies:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Proficient in maintaining accurate records and preparing detailed reports.
· Pro-active and the ability to work on own initiative.
· Must hold a valid driving license.
