Overview
We are working with a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire who are seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Manager to lead their Environmental Protection service. You will manage a team of three officers, oversee statutory functions, and ensure compliance across areas such as pollution control, noise, air quality, contaminated land, and statutory nuisances. The role will also involve developing environmental strategies and engaging with councillors, stakeholders, and the public to drive forward sustainable initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Manage a team of three environmental protection officers.
* Oversee statutory functions and ensure compliance across pollution control, noise, air quality, contaminated land, and statutory nuisances.
* Develop environmental strategies and contribute to council-wide environmental objectives.
* Engage with councillors, stakeholders and the public to drive forward sustainable initiatives.
* Provide professional advice at a senior level and lead investigations as required.
Qualifications
* Strong background in environmental protection within a Local Authority setting.
* In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and enforcement.
* Experience managing staff and delivering projects.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Contract/Offer
Interim contract in Nottinghamshire at £400–£450 per day (inside IR35), with flexibility of 3–5 days per week on offer. This is a leadership role to shape the delivery of environmental protection services while managing a dedicated and professional team.
