Overview
Thrive Recruitment Group are working with our client based near Wyboston in Bedford to recruit for a Yard Operative on a permanent basis. Our client is based in Begwary, near Wyboston and St Neots (MK44 postcode area).
A market leading supplier of Non-Mechanical Plant and Equipment for Sale and Hire, servicing the Construction, Civil Engineering and Utility sectors with products such as Traffic Management Barriers, Hoarding and Fencing Systems, Temporary Access Mats and Portable Roadways, Height restriction Kits, Trench Covers and Trench Sheets and more.
Responsibilities
* Working in an established team performing picking and packing of small and large items, quality checking and cleaning of products (wet work) in the external yard.
* Manual handling of products and general upkeep of the yard to ensure health and safety risks are eliminated.
* Operate FLT Counterbalance as part of yard duties.
* Delivery driving using a flat bed or 3.5T transit to deliver stock.
* Assist with installations, liaising with internal customers and installing products on sites around the UK while maintaining high health and safety standards.
* Occasionally stay away overnight for installations; accommodation and meals are provided.
* Be physically fit with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn and develop construction-based knowledge.
* Full training and PPE will be provided.
Hours, Salary and Benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4pm or 8.30am to 5pm. Longer deliveries may require starting earlier (e.g., 6am).
Salary: £26,500 per year. Overtime paid at time and a half. Discretionary bonus scheme. Private health care. Career progression. Christmas shutdown. Social staff events. Accommodation (when staying out overnight) with meals provided.
Requirements
* Willingness to work outside in the client’s yard and stay overnight for installations when required.
* This is not a warehouse role; wet work is required when stock is returned from hire and needs cleaning.
* Physically demanding; ability to lift up to 25kg.
* FLT Counterbalance licence is essential (in-house licences allowed).
* Due to the client’s remote location, you will need your own transport.
* Full clean UK Driving licence required; no DD, DR, IN10 or TT99 convictions; no more than 3 minor penalty points.
* CSCS and CITB are an advantage.
