Oakbrook School - Part of Wellbrook Education Ltd Job description: School Cleaner Job details Salary: Up to £6,500 (based on qualifications and experience) Contract type: Permanent, part-time, term time only (10 hours per week) Working Hours: MonThurs 3:005:00pm, Fri 1:303:30pm Reporting to: Headteacher Main purpose To provide a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school site, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The post-holder will work to agreed cleaning schedules, operate equipment safely, and follow all relevant health and safety and safeguarding policies. Duties and responsibilities: Cleaning tasks: Empty waste bins or similar receptacles and transport waste to designated collection points. Sweep, vacuum, mop, and sanitise floors daily using appropriate cleaning products and equipment. Dust, damp wipe, wash, or polish furniture, ledges, window sills, radiators, and shelves. Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels. Clean toilets, urinals, hand basins, and sinks daily to a high hygiene standard. Use chemicals safely as directed, following COSHH guidelines. Wash walls and clean inside windows to safe working heights. Maintain tidy, safe, and organised cleaning cupboards and storage areas. Seasonal cleaning tasks (deep cleans INSET days). Health and safety Check cleaning stock levels and report shortages to the line manager. Inspect and report any equipment faults promptly. Follow all health and safety procedures and attend mandatory training. Record completed cleaning tasks daily and accurately. Responsible for reporting hazards or maintenance issues. Follow PPE requirements. Responsible for or locking/unlocking certain areas if relevant. Safeguarding and professional conduct Understand and follow the schools safeguarding and child protection policies. Report any concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead. Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the school. Promote and uphold the schools ethos and values. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Undertake additional duties as reasonably directed by the line manager. Professional conduct Maintain a high level of professionalism that aligns with the values and ethos of the school. Have proper regard for school policies and practices, maintaining high standards of attendance, punctuality, and personal presentation.
