Overview
We are currently recruiting for a leading and prestigious Metal and Fabrication company based in Mildenhall, Suffolk. They are seeking to employ a Manufacturing Engineer to start asap. Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager / Operations Director. This is a permanent role offering a very competitive salary depending on experience and skills. Hours are Monday to Friday - 8am to 5pm.
Responsibilities
* Identify inefficiencies, implement improvements, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to ensure smooth operation and upkeep of facilities, equipment, and systems.
* Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
* Assist the business as it begins the journey of robotic automation.
* Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve quality; seek opportunities to reduce downtime and increase equipment reliability.
* Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and machinery.
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues to identify root causes and implement timely solutions.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and maintenance logs; develop standard work instructions, process documentation, routings, BOMs, and manufacturing specifications for fabricated components.
* Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, modifications, or enhancements to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
* Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly to minimize downtime and ensure safety of personnel and assets.
* Provide technical support for New Product Introduction (NPI), collaborating with design/engineering teams on DFM, process development, tooling/fixture design, CNC programming, prototype builds, process validation, and production ramp-up.
* Provide training to operators on proper equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
* Maintain organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies for maintenance tasks and repairs.
* Adhere to safety regulations and promote a culture of safety; identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (or related field), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Proven experience in process improvement, manufacturing, or operations.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
