RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Dean of the Business School
POST OBJECTIVES:
Deliver and manage modules across undergraduate and postgraduate sport and football degree courses. Complete administrative tasks, including quality assurance documents related to student feedback, moderation of assessments, and participation in Assessment Boards as required by GIS' awarding bodies. Support the Deputy Dean and staff teaching on UG and PG courses. Support academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.
KEY TASKS:
1. Teach designated modules and courses, contributing to online course delivery.
2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to course and module specifications.
3. Design and deliver teaching materials for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supporting curriculum review and enhancement to improve student outcomes.
4. Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars, fostering debate and critical thinking.
5. Identify student learning needs, set objectives, supervise projects and placements, and advise on study skills.
6. Integrate innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance engagement and assessment.
7. Monitor student engagement and feedback; maintain accurate records of progress.
Undertake assessments and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
1. Assess and verify student work.
2. Collaborate with colleagues and External Examiners to embed best practices.
Engage in professional development:
1. Learn and apply diverse teaching and assessment strategies.
2. Develop expertise within your field and contribute to research and professional growth.
Participate in departmental seminars to share knowledge and foster collaboration.
1. Build productive relationships within the team and externally to promote GIS.
2. Collaborate on assessment procedures development and implementation.
Provide pastoral care:
1. Act as a personal tutor, offering first-line support.
2. Refer students to support services as needed.
Achieve KPIs related to attendance, retention, and achievement. Work with support staff to maintain student satisfaction. Contribute to annual review and evaluation reports, implementing module improvements based on feedback. Engage in staff development and adhere to Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies. Work flexibly and undertake other relevant duties.
