An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated sonographer to join our friendly, forward-thinking ultrasound team at Stockport on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
We pride ourselves on being a supportive and friendly team, providing our patients with a high standard of care. The team conducts various ultrasound examinations including general medical necks and DVT assessment, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, neonatal hips, neonatal heads, and musculoskeletal. We also scan as part of an Early Pregnancy clinic. Our equipment includes Canon and Siemens machines across two main departments, located close to the Peak District.
The typical working day is from 08:45 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
Applicants must hold a recognised CASE-accredited ultrasound qualification (PgCert, PgDip) and be eligible to work in the UK with HCPC/NMC or equivalent registration. Due to current training commitments, we are unable to consider applicants with non-CASE-accredited qualifications requiring further training to meet FASP guidelines.
Main duties of the job
This is ideally a full-time 12-month fixed post of 37.5 hours per week, covering Monday to Friday.
We have a strong commitment to lifelong learning, with quarterly update/clinical meetings, internal and external courses encouraged, and participation in local MDT meetings when possible.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team and independently. Experience in obs, gynae, and general medicine is preferred but not essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a caring and professional attitude, are essential.

Job responsibilities
Our team comprises 18 sonographers, mainly specializing in obstetrics, gynaecology, and general medicine. Our facilities include four ultrasound rooms in the main department, a shared reporting area, and additional scan rooms in the early pregnancy unit and antenatal clinic.
General medicine exams are conducted in the X-Ray department, which has six ultrasound rooms for scanning and reporting. We also perform infant hip and neonatal cranial ultrasounds within the paediatric setting.

This role requires an enhanced DBS check costing £54.90, deducted from the first salary, and joining the DBS update service with an annual fee of £16.
