PWAY Design Engineer / Design Checker – Remote
£60-80 per hour (Depending on Experience) - Outside of IR35

We are supporting a major rail infrastructure programme which is experiencing a shortage of specialist track design resource. We are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer / Design Checker to provide high-level design, checking, and approval support.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the checking and approval of track design deliverables, with some involvement in design production where required. The focus will be on ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and quality of submitted designs.
This role is expected to be delivered primarily remotely. Some initial onboarding or project meetings may be required, but the day-to-day work will be remote once agreed with the client.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake track design checking and approval for major rail projects.
* Support the development of damage gauge pack designs.
* Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
* Review and verify design packages prepared by other engineers.
* Liaise with project teams during initial meetings and throughout the design lifecycle.
* Ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency across all deliverables.
Essential Experience
* Strong background in track design within the rail industry.
* Proven experience in design checking and/or approval roles.
* Familiarity with damage gauge pack design and related standards.
* Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining clear communication.
* Previous involvement in major rail programmes (international experience beneficial).
