Job Title: Data Manager (Assessment)
Hours per Week: 36 hours per week / 41 weeks per year (term time only plus inset)
Times of Work: 8:30am - 4:00pm (flexibility required during examination periods)
Breaks: Includes a 30minute unpaid break

Purpose of the Role
The Data Manager (Assessment) is responsible for the effective management, analysis, and reporting of student assessment data across the school. The role ensures that data is accurate, timely, secure, and meaningful, enabling senior leaders, governors, and staff to make informed decisions that raise standards and improve outcomes for students. This is a key post within a busy school environment, working closely with senior leadership, the data team, and the examinations team.
Key Accountabilities
Data Management & Assessment Systems
1. Maintain and develop the school's assessment and data management systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity
2. Oversee the collection, validation, storage, and maintenance of assessment data within the school's MIS and reporting platforms
3. Manage the configuration and ongoing development of assessment frameworks, mark sheets, and reporting structures
4. Ensure accurate integration and reconciliation of data between internal and external systems
5. Act as the school's lead professional for assessment data processes and systems
Data Analysis, Reporting & Insight
6. Produce highquality, timely, and accurate reports for the Senior Leadership Team, Governors, partner heads, and other stakeholders
7. Analyse student progress, attainment, and performance trends at wholeschool, cohort, subject, group, and individual level
8. Identify and flag concerns relating to student grades and progress to support early intervention
9. Support target setting, selfevaluation, and school improvement planning through robust data analysis
10. Benchmark outcomes against national, local, and historical data where appropriate
11. Present data clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences, highlighting key findings and priorities
Assessment Cycles & Data Collection
12. Coordinate assessment data collections (data drops) in line with the school calendar, ensuring deadlines are met
13. Work closely with teaching staff to support accurate data entry and consistent use of assessment systems
14. Validate, cleanse, and qualityassure data prior to reporting
15. Prepare termly assessment and progress reports for parents/carers and students
16. Support the GCSE options process through the preparation, collection, and reporting of student option choices
17. Maintain clear documentation of assessment processes, timelines, and expectations
Baseline Assessments
18. Lead the preparation, administration, and processing of baseline assessments, including MidYIS and Yellis testing, in collaboration with the Examinations Officer
19. Manage the import, validation, and analysis of baseline assessment data
20. Produce baseline analysis reports to support target setting, transition, and early intervention planning
21. Provide guidance to staff on interpreting and using baseline data effectively
Statutory Returns & Compliance
22. Lead the preparation, validation, and submission of statutory returns, including the school census and DfE data collections
23. Support and manage tableschecking exercises, resolving discrepancies promptly
24. Ensure compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation, and school policies
25. Maintain robust data security, access controls, and audit processes
Staff Support & Training
26. Provide training and guidance to staff on the effective use of assessment data and reporting tools
27. Support leaders and teachers in interpreting data to inform teaching, intervention, and curriculum planning
28. Develop guidance, templates, and documentation to ensure consistent data practices across the school
Support to the Examinations Officer
29. Provide support to the Examinations Officer during peak workload periods
30. Maintain a working knowledge of examinations processes to ensure continuity of service when required
31. Ensure this support is balanced alongside core data management responsibilities
Continuous Improvement
32. Keep up to date with national developments in assessment, accountability, and data management
33. Review and refine data systems and reporting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
34. Contribute proactively to wholeschool improvement initiatives linked to assessment and standards
