Hours: 37 per week, Monday–Friday
Start Date: 05 January 2026

Pay Rate: £31.50 PAYE / £42.00 Umbrella
About the Client
Isle of Wight Council Children’s Services are dedicated to supporting children, families and carers across the island. Their Fostering Team plays a vital role in ensuring safe, stable and nurturing environments for children, working closely with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
We are seeking two experienced Senior Social Workers to join the Fostering Team on a temporary basis. You will provide professional social work support, contributing to the assessment, supervision and development of foster carers, and ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people. Working within Children’s Services, you will be part of a committed team focused on safeguarding and permanence planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments of foster carers and prospective carers.
* Provide supervision, guidance and ongoing support to foster families.
* Contribute to care planning and permanence decisions for children and young people.
* Liaise with multi-agency professionals to ensure collaborative working.
* Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory requirements.
* Uphold safeguarding standards and promote the welfare of children at all times.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England.
* Significant experience within fostering, children and families, or related social care settings.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning and fostering regulations.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
* Commitment to delivering positive outcomes for children and families.
