We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Registered Nurse to lead our Pre-assessment and Bowel Screening Team in delivering a clinically effective service preparing our patients for their endoscopy procedure. The postholder will predominately be Monday to Friday but may require to work in the endoscopy rooms and doing on-call to meet the needs of the service. Knowledge of the Endoscopy pathway is essential as well as a knowledge of working in a pre-assessment environment. The Team Leader will work autonomously supporting the Senior Charge Nurse in managing the patients who are attending for an endoscope whether it is as an elective, emergency or part of the Bowel Screening Service. The Team Leader will provide a high standard of efficient individualised patient care by carrying out a comprehensive medical assessment, physical measurements, and various diagnostic tests and manage ongoing medical needs to facilitate the patient for their endoscope. The purpose of this role is to assess, evaluate and then optimise the health of patients preoperatively, liaise and plan for their endoscope. An essential part of the role is assisting the senior nursing team to develop and expand the role to meet the needs of the patient and the service. Good decision making skills in clinical practice and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must possess evidence of effective team working and excellent interpersonal skills, and be committed to patient focused care. Supporting the Senior Charge Nurse to manage the assessment team and support services, development is an integral part of this leadership role. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies to ensure safe and effective manner while meeting local and national agreed targets set by the Government, keeping accurate associated records to produce electronic data as evidence Excellent communication skills with a knowledge and understanding of endoscopy, bowel screening and cancer related health- issue is essential. You will be required to be competent in the necessary evidence based clinical skills relating to pre-assessment/ Endoscopy and Bowel Screening Service. Evidence of further education/continuous professional development and willing to commit to life-long learning and continuing professional development both of yourself and that of your team.
