Age UK Bedfordshire need a handyperson to work on a bank basis to carry out DIY jobs around the home of our customers within Bedford and surrounding villages.
You may ask, what do we mean by Bank Worker? It simply means that when we receive an enquiry for work to be carried out, we contact you so that you can then arrange to carry out the work at a mutually agreed time (between yourself and the customer). Therefore, if you already have another job or have retired and want to increase your income, but do now want to be tied to specific times and day, this role could well suit you.
This is an employed position, so holiday pay and full employment rights are applicable.
We are not necessarily looking for skilled professionals, but a good degree of competency is required in one or more of the following disciplines:
Carpentry, small plumbing work, minor electrics.
* £14.50 ph plus travel allowance of £2.47 between clients and 37p per mileage allowance.
* Holiday and sick pay.

We cannot guarantee the number of hours as it depends on the enquiries we receive, but current post holders work on average 10 hours each week.
* A DBS certificate is legally required to work with vulnerable adults. If you do not possess a certificate that is not older than 30 months, we will apply on your behalf and pay the fee.
