We’re looking for a passionate, empathetic, and experienced Social Worker to join our team to help support both customers and colleagues. The role is primarily office-based to ensure support to our customers and team members is available when needed.
Octopus works with a diverse range of customers with unique needs. Our energy specialists engage daily in managing complex and often challenging conversations and situations.
We seek a qualified social worker with significant experience in a fast-paced environment, comfortable with the unknown, and approaching each situation with curiosity and empathy. The ideal candidate is approachable and keen to support our energy specialists, who will in turn support our customers.
What you'll do:
* Work with customers with various needs, conducting assessments and support plans, referring to local authorities when appropriate, and recognizing safeguarding concerns.
* Conduct needs assessments, consider customers' ability to pay, and recommend the best support strategies.
* Signpost customers to sources of help and proactively recommend support packages.
* Follow up on individual cases to ensure resolution, working with other agencies and making relevant referrals where needed.
* Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
* Provide ongoing support to our energy specialists.
* This is an office-based contract.
What you'll need:
* Registration with Social Work England.
* A Social Work degree with around 5 years’ post-qualifying experience.
* Completion of your ASYE.
* Experience in adult social care; bonus points if you've worked in mental health teams.
* (Nice to have) A Practice Educator qualification.
* (Even nicer to have) Experience as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP).
* Confidence applying social work skills in complex situations.
* A warm, collaborative approach, with the ability to build trust and tailor support.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to different locations.
