Description of the Job:
A committed and enthusiastic Youth Participation Officer is needed to join Rainbow Fostering Services Ltd.’s diverse workforce. The ideal applicant will be responsible for organising and leading family and child-focused activities, mentoring young people with special education needs, and teaching children. You will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment where young people can thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
You should have a strong desire to include all kids and teens with special needs and disabilities in regular activities. You’ll be able to quickly establish trustworthy relationships with children of various skill levels, as well as their parents and caretakers. You should be skilled in helping children communicate with decision-makers and express their opinions through participatory methods. Experience in managing partnerships with external organisations in the local area is also important.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Participate in events and programs offered by our Youth Participation Service with children and youth.
* Develop and implement activities suitable for different developmental stages.
* Support and guide children in their educational pursuits.
* Encourage and assist children and teens, especially those with special education needs.
* Promote positive interactions with foster families and young people.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure everyone’s wellbeing.
* Keep detailed records of children’s development and behaviour.
* Represent Rainbow Fostering across the UK to increase the number of children served.
* Work to improve lives and advocate for the needs of families and children.
* Adopt an empowering approach that gives beneficiaries a sense of agency.
* Ensure the safe delivery of services and promptly address safeguarding issues in accordance with Rainbow policies.
Requirements:
* A valid driver’s license is required.
* A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
* Experience working with children and young people.
* Ability to conduct group activities with children, teens, and families.
* Ability to build partnerships with external organisations.
* Understanding of foster care concepts and procedures.
* Ability to guide and support traumatised children and adolescents, especially those with special education needs.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Empathy, perseverance, and a genuine desire to see children and teens succeed.
* Resilience and capacity to maintain energy, focus, and optimism.
* Creative problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently.
* Willingness to travel for events.
* Certification in youth work or related field is a plus but not required.
