We are looking for a passionate and committed Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with an interest in hand and wrist to join the team at the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds.
The individual appointed to the post will have completed general orthopaedic training, including general on‑call trauma, and have completed or be undertaking a Fellowship in Hand and Wrist.
We are an innovative department who work well together and are looking for someone to join our team. The role will involve participating in the on‑call rota (currently 1:10) covering DGH level trauma.
This post will involve cross‑site working, as we join our Integrated Care System colleagues in the utilisation of the Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC) in Colchester (due to open October 2024).
Responsibilities
* Provision of Trauma and Orthopaedic services to the highest clinical standards, in particular leading the development of a subspecialist service in Hand and Wrist.
* Share responsibility with colleagues for the day‑to‑day management of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department.
* Teaching and training junior staff, medical students and para‑medical practitioners.
* Actively participate in both Departmental and Trust Clinical Governance and Audit.
* Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME), appraisal and revalidation.

West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services, including an emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day‑surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children’s ward.
