Practices aseptic techniques and adheres to infection control policies.
Provides bedside respiratory care to patients as assigned by supervisors and treated on the physician's order for both in-house and outpatients. Works under the direction of the Director of Cardio-pulmonary Services. Performs the duties and tasks of a Respiratory Care practitioner within the scope of the license granted by the state of RI.
Responsibilities
1. Essential Functions
1.1 Performs basic respiratory procedures including HHN, IS, CPT, MDI, IPPB, Flutter, and EZPAP.
2. Team Participation
2.1 Member of Code Team and MET team.
3. Equipment Knowledge
3.1 Familiar with measuring devices: pulse oximeters, Wright's respirometers, blenders, analyzers.
4. CPAP/BiPAP
4.1 Setup, maintenance, and administration of CPAP/BiPAP.
5. Professional Development
5.1 Participates in staff meetings, lectures, conferences, and seminars.
6. Patient and Team Respect
6.1 Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
7. Customer Service
7.1 Displays a positive, 'can do' attitude within the department and across departments to contribute to overall customer service.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy with credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist, with eighteen months to obtain RRT credential.
Experience
Must be registered or registry eligible, certified or certification eligible.
Licensure
BLS certification and a current Rhode Island license.
